KANSAS CITY, MO — There's a new opportunity for people interested in working on the new terminal at Kansas City International Airport.

The Workforce Training Program is part of the community-benefits agreement. Participants will receive 120 hours of classroom training, a $400 weekly stipend, a RideKC pass for the duration of the program and child-care assistance.

Bridgette Williams, executive director of the Heavy Constructors Association of Greater Kansas City, said they are “recruiting individuals to come in a trade by the specific crafts that will be employed on the job at that time.”

Those interested are asked to bring a government-issued ID and be ready to complete an assessment and interview, if they meet the criteria. Those who are selected will receive a written offer by mail two weeks after the interview. A drug screen must be passed before entering the program. From there, a subcontractor will sponsor participants through the program and hire them as an apprentice after they complete the program successfully.

Edgemoor's Senior Development Manager Dan Moylan told 41 Action News the opportunities are a way for people to “really chang their lives.”

“They’re meaningful income. They come with benefits, health benefits and other benefits that are really an opportunity to put someone on a career path,” Moylan said.

Those interested in applying can do so Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

  • 3100 NE 83rd Street #2800, Kansas City, MO 64119
